Happy holiday season, peeps! There is nothing I don’t like about this time of the year. It encapsulates so many things I love: cozy nights at home, spending time with family and friends (even more special this year – first Christmas for our baby boy!), fun party invitations, decorating the home – and baking cookies. What I like even more than baking cookies, is decorating them. See what I came up with to decorate some chocolate sablés and orange cookies:

Salted Pumpkin Spice Almonds
You guys! Who would have thought I’m not only back on The Roaring Prettiness with my new beauty catch series, but even got around to do one of my Sunday posts. Not me.
Summer Berry Tart
Happy summer, peeps! I’m sure, this time around the year you don’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen. But if you still need a festive dessert, I have the perfect recipe for you. I once found this berry tart in a Betty Bossi magazine (you Swiss know what I mean) and adapted it slightly to make it a bit lighter. Here’s how you take that summer dessert buffet to a whole new, elevated level: (more…)
I go bananas
OK, so last week I was complaining about not having a proper summer, and now I’m literally melting. Temperatures in Switzerland went from 16°C to 31°C within 24 hours. This cries for a refreshment, i.e. popsicles, my friends. (more…)
Nibbling away
I’m all about homemade goodies. Be it homemade granola, sweets or sauces. They just taste so much better than anything store-bought. Don’t you agree? Same goes for nibbles to start a great dinner party. Lately, I whipped up truffle butter-parmesan-thyme popcorn and garlic-olive oil-mozzarelline. Both only take a few minutes to throw together and are a creative departure from the typical peanuts and olives to serve with your cocktails.
DIY Advent Calendar
Yay! My favourite season of the year is just around the corner. And for those of you who are looking for some last minute inspiration to get into the mood, here is a simple idea of an Advent calendar that will help your loved ones sweeten up waiting for Christmas. (more…)
Apple Roses
It’s autumn! And I finally, finally have the time and muse again to try out some new treats, freshly from the oven. Those beautiful apple roses were all over social media, and I was longing for the next gloomy Sunday, so I had a good excuse to have a go at them. They came out pretty well. BUT – my never resting mind already created some tweaks to the recipe to make them even more delicious. Here’s how I made them: (more…)
White chocolate bites
When I was in Sils-Maria this summer, I found these seriously pretty dried edible blossoms from Reto Raselli, an organic farmer from Swiss Val Poschiavo. Several mixes are available and the ones I got is the “Blumenmischung” (flower mix), a colourful mix of organic marigold, sunflower and cornflower. They’re soooo pretty! I bought two sachets, convinced I’d soon come up with an idea on how to use them. And while you can sprinkle them on literally every dish (salad, pasta, dessert, you name it), I suddenly had the idea of making white chocolate bites. They’re so easy to make, are seriously delicious, and make a wonderful treat or hostess gift. Here’s how I made them: (more…)
Homemade Granola
On our last holiday, I ate the most delicious granola for breakfast at the Babington House in Somerset, England. Good thing they sold a really cool book there called Eat, Drink, Nap, with the recipe of exactly this granola in there. First thing back home, I had to try it myself, and I may tell you, it didn’t come out bad at all. I might even go into large-scale production. Here’s how to do it: (more…)
App-solutely organised
Call me a freak, but I do love my clothes and I do love them organised. I blame my Zodiac (Virgo – in case you were still wondering). Now this is an awesome app for you. (more…)
