Summer scents

Summer is in full bloom, and so I’ve added scents to my life which remind me of sunny days on the beach, balmy summer nights out with friends, long hikes in the Swiss Alps, and lazy lunches on bougainvillea-covered terraces overlooking the Mediterranean. Hooray for summer, my favourite season!

Clarins – Eau des Jardins
This crisp fragrance is more than just a scent. It also has skin care benefits derived from powerful and highly concentrated plant extracts which hydrate the skin and leave a fresh and luminous effect. What more can you ask for on a hot summer day when the last thing you want to do is slathering on any sort of lotion to soothe your body. The scent of Eau des Jardins reminds me of a summer cocktail with limes and orange slices, mixed with a little pomegranate. It’s refreshing, energizing, and feminine. I also love the “relax” shower gel of the same range. Exquisite!

Maison Martin Margiela – Replica Beach Walk
The sexiest beach perfume out there involves coconut milk, bergamot, lemon, pink pepper, and musk. And if you close your eyes, you can picture yourself, all glistening skin, a soft salty breeze through your hair, walking along a sandy beach in the south of France. Bliss.

The Body Shop – Satsuma Body Mist
I love the scent of tangerines and try each and every tangerine fragrance I come across. I’ve never found a better, more natural smelling tangerine scent than this one from The Body Shop. It is a very pure and natural fragrance, so I spritz it on when I spend a cosy summer night in, after a refreshing shower.

Jo Malone – Wild Bluebell
If morning dew had a smell, it would be this. Bluebell is a wild forest flower and its scent is super fresh and light, like a crisp morning in the Alps. Jo Malone’s Wild Bluebell is also perfect for layering with other scents (I think it goes perfectly with Hermès Un Jardin en Méditerranée).

Hermès – Un Jardin en Méditerranée
This unisex fragrance goes on with a bang. It smells really – as it promises – like a morning stroll in a Mediterranean garden full of fig and citrus trees. This fragrance is beyond and probably the most favourite of all my summer scents.
